A draft manifesto for Pressto
Pressto makes learning to write fun for kids and easy to teach. We're building a better way to write.
Based on early feedback from educators and current and former Ed Tech execs that serve as our advisors, we are understating how big the change in K-12 writing instruction will be if our hypotheses for Pressto Blocks™ and other innovations in our Year 2+ roadmap bear out in classroom testing. Our goal, audacious as it may read in the fractured K-12 tech landscape, is that every single school will need to be using Pressto, rather than word processors from Google or Microsoft, for most or all student writing & across all subject areas. Word Processing products that students use to write in third grade today are the same products that authors use to write 700-page novels. We intend to be the first company to engineer a writing instruction product geared specifically to student writers of all levels, in all languages. We are marrying the knowledge of our team of educators that leverage best practices in off-line (pencil and notebook) writing instruction with the technical ingenuity of our team of product developers and engineers that have a proven track record of leveraging technology in the classroom.
Pressto intends to be used in more than 50% of U.S. K-12 schools (130,000) within 5 years of its August 15, 2022 launch. We expect more than 1/3 of these schools to be paying customers using Pressto Plus (our working name for our suite of revenue producing products, to be launched in fall 2022). The other 2/3 are lead generation - our goal is to market both audiences: increase the number of teachers, schools, and districts that use Pressto in classrooms for writing instruction and convert these users to paying customers based on the proven (efficacy studies to come...) value to teachers and students of Pressto Plus.
